Diploma is certificate issued by an educational institute . It is a three-year course in India, some of courses that can be opted are Information science, computer science, electrical, electronics, mechanical, fashion designing and many more. With two semesters each year which will be conducted once in six months. Students are expected to clear all subject. There will minimum of nine subjects for each semester .No more than five backlogs are allowed . If any students have more than 4 backlogs they will be held back for the whole year. The backlogs should be cleared in the next semester by taking supplementary exam. After the completion of three years the student can either go to a job or join engineering . To join Engineering the student should take up lateral entry exam that is nothing but CET. Diploma CET syllabus mostly revolves under the subjects that they studied in there 3 years of diploma. Every year almost 12000 students take up Diploma CET . The advantage of doing Diploma is that student will get a direct entry to second year of Engineering. The CET results will be announced after few days. Once CET results are announced students can start selecting colleges which they desire. This option entry is done online on KEA website . Option entry should be completed before the specified deadline. Once this stage is completed KEA will announce the mock results. Once admission process is completed you will be given admission to second year of engineering that is third semester of engineering. Lateral entry students will usually have four or three subjects of first and second semester. They can takeup exam of these subjects in any of the six semesters.
